Off to School Camp

Hayden went off to school camp this morning. He left early this morning (Monday) and will be back late on friday afternoon.Am i sounding a little anxious? He kept saying how much he will miss us.Gosh we will miss him too.I am hoping he will be so busy with all the great activities and having fun with his mates that he wont have much time to think about it.The worst part is having no contact at all.I know this will be great for him ,especially not having mum to do things and think for him but its going to feel very strange this week with him not around

Cross Country Carnival

Its feels like its been a busy week.I had a few things to post about but I'll just tackle one topic and do some more later ,otherwise it will turn into one big waffle of a post

Tuesday was our Cross Country carnival. Was a busy day with 4 trips to the school as I had my kids spread out into all 3 categories.Infants started at about 9.45.This is the first year they have included the kindy kids which i thought was great. They were to run 500metres which is one lap opposed the the 1km for Yr 1 and 2. Kayles says to me " I hope i come first" I just laughed and thought what high hopes she had.Sure as anything she came first LOL.She was coming third the whole way and then right towards the end she started sprinting and overtook. It was such a thrill and she was pleased as punch and was awarded a blue ribbon.

Now I didnt even think to take my camera so I took some on my phone after i worked out how.Now i have no idea how to get the pic onto my computer. There is no spot for a USB cable and i have tried emailing it to myself but it didnt come through LOL So thats in the too hard basket for the moment.

At 11.50 it was Yr 3 and 4 to run 2km.Lauren is so competitive. She tried her hardest. She was as red as a beetroot and looked like she was going to pass out at the end.Its a pretty good distance for little kids. She did really well and came somewhere shortly after the first 10.Im not sure of the place.I could tell she was disapointed with herself but she so needn't of been as i was so proud of her efforts and kept trying to tell her how well she did

Seniors were up to run at 2pm.Hayden came 9th .Job well done.First 6 go to district and he says hes going to make it there next year.

So was very proud of my 3 and the effort they put in.

Cheers

HAPPY EASTER!

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter today.

My children were very considerate and even though they were awake much earlier they waited until 6.30 to drag me out of bed LOL.So through blurry eyes I took this pic after they ran around the house squealing and finding eggs.Plus the Easter bunny left a few other goodies too so they have been spoilt. They actually heard the Easter bunny last night putting things down on the table. He also ate some of the carrot and was quite messy as he left bits all over the floor

Easter Eve

Lauren told me today that her friend Chloe calls today Easter Eve.Well I guess she is not wrong there .

More cupcakes. No doubt tomorrows menu will be prominently cupcakes and chocolate .These were made very quickly tonight just in time to watch Ice Age at 6.30.I can never go with the standard pink as Hayden wont eat pink ones.He says they taste funny LOL so i usually tend to ice a few blue ones. They also cant have any sprinkles of any kind (rolls eyes).Decided to throw in green instead this time. The girls are getting very good at icing these especially Lauren. They are a bit bright but Easterish

Kayley was so worried going off to bed tonight. She is finding the prospect of the Easter bunny entering our house amid darkness quiet scary. She says she doesnt know what he really looks like and what if he is brown (which would be scary)and he looks in her room and what if shes awake etc etc.Rest assured the Easter bunny should be white and fluffy and in such a hurry that he will be in and out in a flash.Lauren still made sure the containers with the cupcakes were hidden away in case he decides to eat them all LOL

I did a big book sort out today.OMG we have sooo many books. Have a pile for St Vinnies, heaps for ebayland and we still have heaps.I found a few Easter story books.I used to always try and buy an Easter book each Easter until one year I couldnt find one so I gave up.One story we read was all about the Easter Bunny getting trapped in a cage (to be eaten mind you) and then the last page was missing.I made up the rest of the story but still Miss wasnt impressed about the missing page as now she doesnt know the end to the real story.Rest assured it would have been a happy one.The next one was a Richard Scary one but was about these characters saying the Easter bunny wasnt real.Note to self to read these stories in future before buying them

Anyways better be off.Now heres hoping they dont all rise too early.Dont like my chances

Showbag Madness

On Thursday I went to the Royal Easter show with all of my friends LOL Okay,I really went by myself LOL again!

Anyone who has ever been knows what a small fortune it would cost for a family of 5 to go.About $130 to get in the gates plus rides, food, parking and showbags.Im sure you would easily spend over $400.Last time we tried to go as a family quite a few years back it was a disaster. It poured rain and the kids were really hanging out for the end of the day for the showbags. They are truly not materialistic kids but hey showbags are FUN,not to mention a rip off and full of crap but they love them so thats what counts

Since Sunday Lauren has been drooling over the Easter show mag that came with the Daily Telegraph trying to work out what showbag she would get.Dont know where she got the idea from that she might get one but Jase had suggested I go for the day and pick them up a couple each while Im there.

So i did this.I did the same a couple of years ago and it worked out really well.I love looking at all the art and craft and I really dont mind doing things by myself. My mum is away and the couple of friends I asked couldnt make it but i wasnt fazed. I had a great day. I did feel a tad guilty that the kids weren't with me.They were at school though and ABSOLUTELY thrilled to get a couple of showbags each. There were squeals of delight

Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter weekend.Jase is working today but only 5 hours from 7 to 12.We are planning a nice quiet weekend at home.I made some brownies yesterday and have some crafty things for the kids to do.

Lauren just wanted to double check that the Easter bunny still comes when its raining.Im going grocery shopping this arvo and have been instructed to buy some carrots for him.Hayden was contemplating today where the Easter Bunny lives.Well I really dont know the answer to that one.Does he live with regular bunnies or is he too special for that?He said maybe Jupiter but i pointed out that Im pretty sure that its uninhabited. He said well maybe an unknown planet just for bunnies or on Easter Island wherever that is LOL

Lauren slept over at her friend Chloes house last night.I am good friends with her mum.She had a fantastic time but is very tired today as she couldn't get to sleep. She said she missed me.Im trying to get her to have a rest today

These pics where taken very quickly amongst the hysteria

Cupcakes and other bits

We made cupcakes today. No shock there. We tend to make them a bit but havent made a batch since our holidays so well overdue.Felt like some colour today so here we have it.Lauren and i iced (she did most of them while I had fun mixing up colour) and Kayley was the decorator. These wont last long.Oh and we made fairy wands too but sorry no pic

Lauren also attended the district swimming carnival this week and came third in her race.Yay Lauren!

Hayden and Lauren both had seperate visits to the Dentist this week.Lauren is all good but Hayden will be going back in 2 weeks to have a tooth removed (a baby one).I think i am dreading that more than he is

Thats it for now.

My Mum and Dad

This is a rare pic taken of my parents and I at Christmas.Even though i am rarely in pics Im starting to realise that you really need to capture these moments (even if you dont like the look of yourself).Mum and Dad have their own business or should I say businesses and even though my brother manages then they are the type of people that dont just sit around. So even though they are getting on in age they are still work, work, work. They do have a caravan though and love to get away. They are away at the moment.I think its been a month or thereabouts.Im really happy that they are getting time to relax.Even though they live close I dont see them enough.I miss them

Even though my dad has health problems ..you will never ever hear him complain. He is a"get on with the job " kinda guy.Growing up in my teenage years he always told me I could have anything i wanted....all I had to do was pay for it.He taught us to work for things even though his generousity often shined through with the $20 per week lunch money I got in highschool (remember this was 20 odd years ago..I would have had some left over for scotch and coke on Sat night LOL ) Hes a joker.. and a bit of a stirrer at times.Hes upfront and always there if you need him

Mum..well she a softie..My friend.Growing up i told her everything...well almost.Whilst my friends made up lies .I came home and told my parents at age 15 Id just got into the local nightclub when the blue light disco she'd dropped us off at earlier was unexpectedly cancelled.I knew they wouldnt approve but honesty goes long way and i think I was given more freedom as a result. They always knew where i was.So Mum was "cool" and you just knew you could talk to her.I hope my kids will be the same with me.Im always drumming it into them that you can tell mum"ANYTHING"Although Mum did work part time for some years, we never noticed it.She was always there for us..another thing I plan to emulate.

Mums shouldn't get sick

We had a quiet weekend this weekend.Well not that quite really as we did take the kids to putt putt golf on Saturday (after dancing)and then we went out for lunch at Hogs Breath Cafe and had the yummiest Banofee pie on this earth.I swear i would go there just for the dessert .You would probably guess that though if you had seen me lately LOL

I actually do want to start exercizing and losing weight but i've had this horrid chesty cough for maybe 3 weeks now and have just not been myself. We have a 5km track that is great to walk as once you start you have to finish.I have plans to do this each day once I'm feeling my old self.

Well time has been passing and i hadnt got better.I was getting worse .I hardly ever get sick but seem to have a good go at it when i do but i never go to the docs unless im desperate.Last night laying in bed listening to my own wheezing and i thought "okay time to get this checked out"

So i was up early and off to a medical centre which is about 20mins away as its where we used to live.I loath medical centres and have little faith in the docs there but no other choice on Sunday morn.Doc was surprised i had let it go so long and says my chest is bad and very wheezy and prescribes Ab's and some inhaler thing. Its not ventolin but something much more expensive of course (have spent $80 at chemist this week).

I walk to the other end of the shopping centre to the chemist.I kid you not they are on opposite ends. You would think they would be together. Not far walk if you are feeling normal and not about to pass out LOL.Chemist closed. It opens at 10.Thats okay as i have to do grocery shop anyway (really feel up to that).I will walk back to other end and do that and then come back to get prescription.Do shop, wheel trolley back to chemist and prescription is not where i put it in my back pocket.Dont really know why i put it there.I thought it would be easier to find that going through my handbag.Have no choice but to go back to docs to get another prescription.

Anyway, without boring you to death we got there in the end.Glad i didnt buy icecream as it wouldnt have survived.2 and half hours later and im back home. I did rest this arvo so that was nice (and rare).I will be back on track soon and doing that much needed walk

Cheers
