Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all

I awoke EARLY to my 3 with a bundle or beautifully wrapped pressies.Handmade (the best kind) and from the Mothers Day stall at school. These included lip gloss, nail buffer, candles, windchimes and also some nice mugs I helped pick out.I will take some more pics later.I only managed one and my camera died.I did fix it (the lense needed cleaning and battery charge) but by then i was busy with other things (like cleaning up)

So here is a pic that my 5yr old daughter Kayley spent 2 nights colouring in, in her room.I just love this to bits.I knew she was up to something as she kept worrying Id see what she was doing. She loves colouring in and is quite good at it

It would have been nice to have asleep in and I did try but it wasnt going to happen.Jase cooked bacon and eggs though so that made up for it

My heart goes go out to the mums that are "missing " today. I dont know if its possible that they miss moreso today as they do everyday but i guess its another significant reminder .Hard to find the right things to say but my thoughts are with you

New working life

Well I have been super busy getting used to working life and trying to balance with my family and getting sleep.I'll have my little waffle here and then get on with some more light hearted fun kid stuff,Okay? My new occupation is I guess what you or I would call a "servo chick" or technically a "console operator" and before you laugh along with me...Its a job right? I didnt exactly have employers knocking on my door after so many years out of the workforce raising my kiddos.

I work 11pm to 6am 3 nights a week with some extra here and there. Last week was my first working week after training. I did 4 shifts and to say i was buggered is an understatement.I felt like i could barely walk LOL.During your shift you dont feel it but when you stop ,it kicks in. I am sure in time I will get used to it.Its not just the "Ive been staying up half the night on my butt on my computer/self inflicted" type of tired. Its more a "Ive been stocking, cleaning and serving on my feet all night and need sleep "type tired. When I sleep, I am in such a deep sleep.I know this also cos i am having weird dreams which i dont normally.Having said all that,I am enjoying it and i think working outside of the home can do wonders for self esteem.

I am very grateful to have a job and will just takes this as it comes and see how long my body can handle the nights.I'm hoping that in time things will fall into a pattern and Ive never been one to need loads of sleep. I particularly was looking for night work so i could work the longer hours without having to use care and also wouldn't be stuck in school hols as i would be if i committed to a permanent part time day job.I do also think it is much easier to get a job if you are currently employed so i am one step ahead in the right direction.

Kayley made me laugh. She was asking me lots of questions about my job and she says "Mum I like what you do.Cos working in a service station would be reallly hard you know" She was so serious .God I love her

Tagging along

I have been tagged by the lovely Sue J

These are the rules:

Link the person who tagged you
Mention the rules on your blog
Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them
Leave a comment on each of the tagged bloggers blogs letting them know they have been tagged.

Okay, well this gets the 'ole brain working and see what i can come up with.I'm not very quirky you know

1.I wear some makeup EVERYDAY (embarrassment).Sad I know but i feel kinda naked without it.Not always full makeup but I rarely go completely bare faced, even for days at home .I also have blonde eyelashes so I really need a bit of mascara.I dont really worry what I look like by the end of the day but i have to start out okay.I look horrid without makeup

2.I can fall asleep just about anywhere LOL eg:In the movies, sitting in a chair whilst the kids are doing acrobats, sitting on one of those steel type seats with a brick wall behind me while Kayley is in swimming lessons...you get the idea? When i used to catch the train to work many years ago I would crash and wake up on auto pilot just in time to get off

3.I am really good at washing but not so good with the folding and ironing.I wash just about everyday and any tops, dresses (kids of course, i dont do dresses) etc go straight on coat hangers and are dried that way. They then go straight in the wardrobe to be ironed when needed and only if needed. The rest of the clean washing piles up in my laundry and gets done once or twice a week

4.I have a habit of saying sorry when i dont need to.For example ,if someone bumps into me I say sorry to them .I just automatically do it.I dont know why and sometimes i will think to myself afterwards 'why the heck did you say you were sorry"

5.Lately,because I've put on weight and gone up in size of some things ,I have started cutting the size tags off my clothes.I do not want to see and be reminded what size they are

6.I read the newspaper everyday.I dont watch the news so this is my way of staying in touch with whats going on in the world.

Now for tagging others. This will be hard as I really dont know that many bloggers and a lot of the ones i do know have been tagged already

Girly Stuff~ Beaut Belville & Pancake People

This post is especially for my friend Sue to say a big "Thank You" for kindly purchasing these pancake boy and girl moulds and the cute little kiddie tongs.Love ya xoxo I wish i had taken a pic of them in their boxes before the kids excitedly ripped them open.We will have these forever and i will always think of you Sue when we make them..I can see myself making these for the grandkids one day LOL

These were our first attempt .The girls said they are delicious..Of course moreso than regular pancakes even though its the same mix.The shape must make them taste better LOL.Kayley was announcing the amputation of each limb as she ate "Hear goes his arm, mum"

Now I did get into trouble as "Sue" they told me , used choc chips for eyes and buttons etc and we didn't have any. They remembered from me showing them your blog.Gosh, kids dont forget things do they? I had forgotton. Not to worry as they were still very much enjoyed. When we went shopping today they reminded me about the chop chips and they were purchased for the next lot.

Now for the beaut lego Belville Sunshine Home set that arrived this week. Thanks to Janelle for making me aware of this girly lego stuff. We have had Duplo for years, since Hayden was little and I wanted to sell it on ebay as i thought they had outgrown it.Hayden has regular lego but its not as appealing to the girls as "pink" lego.So many times they convinced me not to sell the Duplo even though it rarely got touched.I finally convinced them with a promise to spend the $ on this.I wanted to do this on the weekend and get in there and help as i thought they might need it but Lauren couldnt wait so she built it all by herself with Kayley as her apprentice

Now in keeping it real, I must add that it wasnt all smiles yesterday as indicated in the pics. There was lots of squabbling going on between my three little darlings.Must be that its nearing the end of the school hols. They are a bit better today though, thankfully

A little catching up

This is just a bit of a scattered catch up.These school hols have been busy

Last week we had the inlaws stay which was a nice catch up.I also took the kids to the movies on Tues to see the Dr Seuss movie. It was actually better than i expected and i didnt fall asleep LOL.On Thursday the kids and I went to see High School Musical on Ice which they have been anxiously awaiting. It was fantastic and we all enjoyed it.

This week I have spent 4 days in training for my new job and luckily my mum is back from holidays and helped me out looking after the kids.My Aunty Eileen (and my Uncle)who we rarely see as they have lived in QLD have been staying with my parents and my girls are just in love with my aunty and didnt leave her alone

My job is nothing flash and will be 7 to 8 hr night shifts (bar any extra shifts I pick up)which suits me as it means it doesnt affect the kids at all.I can sleep when they are at school and i'm not someone who needs loads of sleep. If i was to get a permanent part time job I would be stuck in all the school holidays but now although i may be tired in the school hols ,we will manage .I am so thrilled to have a job after many months of searching daily and applying for all sorts of jobs all to no avail.I know this job will be so good for me not to mention the much needed pay. This will mean i will need to be even more organized to fit everything in and no more late nights on the computer.Mind you I was up the night before my first day really crook and only got a couple of hours sleep.I just couldnt miss my first day so battled through and took the bucket in the car with me and I survived.

Anyway, here is a pic on my 3 on the way to see HSM

Lest We Forget

I am so behind in blogging.Been super busy and i will post some more over the next couple of days as a catch up but cannot go past the meaning of today

ANZAC DAY marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.It is a day when Australians reflect on the many different meanings of war and remember those who fought for our beautiful country.

They shall grow not old, As we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
With the setting of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them.
Lest We Forget

Thinking of my dear pop today.Always remember him with his wireless attached to his ear listing to his horse races.I was about 13 when he died.My dear Nan lived another 10 odd years and couldnt wait to be with him

Casting back on a bit of history that affected his life (and so many others) greatly~
Prime Minister Robert Menzies spoke these words in his address to the nation on 3 September 1939. World War Two had broken out two days earlier when Germany invaded Poland. After Britain and France declared war on Germany, Australia, part of the British Empire, promptly followed suit. It would be six years before Australia, and the world, was at peace again.

Did some googling and found my dear pops service record on the WW2 roll.Hard to believe but there is roughly a million names on that roll which just goes to show the enormity of it all

Name DARCY, HUGH JOSEPH
Service Australian Army
Service Number NX53931
Date of Birth 17 Jun 1904
Place of Birth CONCORD, NSW
Date of Enlistment 9 Jul 1940
Locality on Enlistment MORTLAKE, NSW
Place of Enlistment PADDINGTON, NSW
Next of Kin DARCY, VERNA
Date of Discharge 8 Dec 1944
Rank Sapper

Today ,even though I might have been dealing with my kids squabbling and doing boring housework, I did still think of the bravery and sacrifice of all of the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), who served our country
